Program Title :
Carers for people with special needs
Duration : 60 hours
The program is addressed to carers /assistants, working with people with special needs. Aim of the program is the acquisition of basic skills of the people working with people with disabilities.
Program objectives:
- The formation of trained attendants with basic skills of people with disabilities, who need to have:
-Basic theoretical training for people with disabilities
-Sufficiency in the role of the escort for people with disabilities in different professional contexts
- Capability to recognize the basic categories of people with disabilities
- Communication and management skills of people with disabilities
-Training in dealing with a crisis
-Knowledge of the Cypriot and European legislation on people with disabilities and professional caregivers.

The program includes:
. Evaluation of the need for training caregivers of people with disabilities.
. Policies and practices caregivers of people with disabilities in Cyprus and the European Union
. People with Disabilities
. The role of caregivers of people with disabilities
. Problems caregivers face and methods of handling them
. Attitude correction and use of appropriate tools
. Arts and people with disabilities
. Workshops
. Alternative methods of intervention and communication: theoretical and workshop form
. Diversity and Acceptance
. Definition and delineation of rights and obligations
The instructors are qualified scientists approved by the Human Resource Development Authority.
Educational material will be provided to participants.
Upon successful completion of the program participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
The HPC LCEducational, is co-funded by the Ministry of Commerce .
The program is co-funded by the Human Resource Development Authority-HRDA.
The LCEducational collaborates with similar educational/training organizations of the European Union.
