Program Title :
Training assistants/officers for the Elderly
Duration : 90 hours
The program is addressed to carers working with elderly people. Aim of the program is the acquisition of specialized knowledge regarding medical, psychological and social problems that the elderly face, in order to reflect all the possible needs of the care units of the elderly and of the current programs of assistance of the elderly.
Program objectives:
- The training of health professionals who specialize in the appropriate staffing of nursing homes, houses for the elderly and centers for the elderly as well as other relevant establishments.
-Awareness and instruction of problems in the elderly
-Training with sufficient knowledge of contemporary methods of care and social intervention of the elderly.
-The acquisition of specialized knowledge of the medical, psychological and social problems that the elderly face, so as to reflect to all the possible needs of the care units of the elderly and of the current programs of assistance of the elderly.
The program includes:
. Institutional arrangements for facilities of senior citizens and EU Policies
. Demographic and socioeconomic data for the elderly
. Normal Aging: Disorders and responses
. Usual problems that the elderly in need of rehabilitation face
. Social and psychological changes during old age
. Methodologies to address the problems of the elderly
. Pathological medical problems of old age
. Measures to prevent nursing care (Bedridden / Facing pressure sores / Adjustments / Accident Prevention / Medication / Nutrition)
. Modern methods of intervention (Social exclusion and social reintegration of the elderly, Practical interventions to improve the quality of life, Creative / Alternative methods of intervention and communication: theoretical and workshop form)
. Diversity and Acceptance
The instructors are qualified scientists approved by the Human Resource Development Authority.
Educational material will be provided to participants.
Upon successful completion of the program participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
The HPC LCEducational, is co-funded by the Ministry of Commerce .
The program is co-funded by the Human Resource Development Authority-HRDA.
The LCEducational collaborates with similar educational/training organizations of the European Union.
